Letting Go

BIG MEDIABOX
The Unit, a summer film-making course run by New Writing North, gave an opportunity for teenagers in Newcastle and Stockton to be mentored by film-makers in all aspects of the film-making process.

Single-mum Evie begins a new cleaning job and has to leave her daughter Helena with childminder Saphron for the first time. As her new work colleague Sharon doesn’t help in calming her nerves, Evie becomes increasingly worried. When she calls Saphron’s house and nobody answers, the hunt for her daughter begins.

Anna Disley, Deputy Director of New Writing North, said, "The Mediabox project gave us an opportunity to be ambitious. The young people made the films that they wanted to make, learnt new skills and created shorts that were sophisticated in their story telling and technically accomplished."
