A Step Forward

The Mediabox and Channel 4's FourDocs Filmmaking Competition was launched in July 2007, and awarded 10 filmmakers £500 and support from an industry mentor to make their own film on a subject of their choice.
“A Step Forward” was a runner-up in the competition. Graeme Leighton chose to film his mate Phil, an aspiring actor with short-term memory loss.
Graeme said about the project, “I decided to make the film about Phil because he’s the only disadvantaged person I know but I see him as a friend not an outsider. He’s proven you can still go through life even if you have a disability.”
