Georgina Goes Out
MY MEDIABOX
The Mediabox and Channel 4's FourDocs Filmmaking Competition was launched in July 2007, and awarded 10 filmmakers £500 and support from an industry mentor to make their own film on a subject of their choice.
"Georgina Goes Out" is the winning film from the 2007 competition. Georgina has cerebral palsy. In the film she reveals what it's like to be dependent on care and also reveals how she has structured her private life around her disability.
Georgina said about making the film, "I entered the competition because I wanted people to realise what it was like for me being a disabled person. I am very happy to have made a documentary and now I am the youngest disabled person ever to have their film shown on Channel Four. I would like to thank Mediabox and Channel Four for giving me the opportunity to make my film. I really did have the best summer holiday ever."
